"Cry aloud, spare not. Lift up your voice like a trumpet..." ISAIAH 58

HEARD ON THE STREET

An anonymous citizen has been sending messages to county commissioners (and yours truly) attacking alleged wasteful spending by County Clerk SCOTT ELLIS. The mysterious author GOES by the name of "TRUE FACTS SENDER".

Since one of BWB's email addresses is "TrueFactsF" and since we don't value anonymous tipsters very much, we decided to use some of our past "spook" training to track down this joker.

Frankly, he (and yes it is a "he") isn't very bright. He was easy to find. He is a close associate of State Representative MITCH NEEDELMAN, who is challenging ELLIS in next year's election.

BWB has criticized Ellis in the past, as regular readers know, but we think it smacks of "dirty tricks" to do battle with him hiding behind anonymous emails.

Now...uh...let's see...should we name this guy or not?

YOU decide.

CANDIDATE HAS IRS PROBLEMS

Look for a Republican candidate for State Representative in next year's election to try to explain away a bunch of IRS actions against him over his federal taxes.

There is a Yiddish expression our Jewish friends use to describe this guy's attitude in wanting to get elected to a job that passes on taxes with his background problems with IRS that will come out during the forthcoming election.

The word is”chutzpah" Roughly translated, it means lots of gall.

Good luck, old chap, one of your opponents is already on your trail smelling blood. Yours.

BOONDOOGLE PROGRESSES

If you have been reading our past couples of issues, you will have learned that a county bureaucrat is trying to con the county government into building an $18 million "agricultural complex" to house a non-existent "county fair" to display ghost animals and products that have long since disappeared from Brevard.

Some of you can't believe that the county commission would even consider this idea in this revenue scarce time.

Well, try this: these weeping ("we feel your pain”) commissioners have sanctioned $20,000 for a "feasibility study" for the boondoggle. What’s more an RFP (Request for Proposals) for the study is being drawn up as we speak.

How does the song go? "We're off to see the Wizard....the wonderful Wizard of Oz."

Convince me, please, that the County Commission isn’t on hash or Mexican weed.

A "feasibility study" to build an $18 million complex for cows and horses when they can barely scrape enough money together to decently pay cops and firefighters?

INVESTIGATIONS COMING UP

Brevard Community College and Brevard County signed an agreement that in our opinion constitutes a "restraint of trade" in the use of Wickham Park.

Here is the lowdown: about nine acres of Wickham Park is owned by Brevard Community College. The College agreed to let the county use those acres only if the county doesn't allow certain activities in there that may compete with favored "buddies" of the college.

The agreement even names one of the "buddies".

All others have to stay out.

Presto. Restraint of trade. We don't like it. It stinks of cronyism. We're going to talk to the Attorney General about it. Stay tuned.

Any Thoughts or Comments?
